Brett Sanchez completed his second season as the head wrestling coach at Clackamas Community College. In his tenure, Sanchez has achieved significant success, producing 10 NJCAA All-Americans, 4 NJCAA National Finalists, and 3 NJCAA National Champions. Additionally, he led the team to victory as the 2024 NJCAA National Dual Meet Champions and the 2023 Region 18 Team Champions. His outstanding performance led to him being voted as the Region 18 Coach Of The Year in 2023.

Before becoming the head coach, Sanchez served as the Associate Head Coach for the Cougars for three seasons, from 2019 to 2021. During this time, he played a key role in securing 3 NJCAA National Team Titles and facilitating the success of 24 NJCAA All-Americans and 4 individual NJCAA National Champions.

Brett Sanchez's journey into wrestling began at Clovis High School in Clovis, California, where he graduated in 2008. He was a 2x Central Section Champion, 2x CIF California State Place winner, and played an integral part in leading the Clovis Cougars to a Team State Championship in 2008. Additionally, he was active in football and baseball during his high school years.

Sanchez continued his wrestling career at Clackamas Community College under the guidance of head coach Josh Rhoden. As the first California recruit to join the Cougars during the Josh Rhoden era, Sanchez secured notable achievements, including being a 2x NJCAA All-American and aiding the Cougars in achieving 3rd place at the NJCAA National Championship in Rochester, Minnesota, in 2009. He later garnered 3rd place at the NJCAA National Championship at 184 lbs in 2011, contributing to the Cougars' victory in the NJCAA National Team Title in Spokane, Washington. After earning his Associate's degree in 2011, Sanchez transferred to Grand Canyon University and wrestled Division 2 in the NCAA.

Following his successful wrestling career, Sanchez transitioned to coaching, starting as the Associate Head Coach for Mater Dei Catholic in the 2014 and 2015 seasons and later becoming the Head Coach for the 2016 season, serving until 2018. He also founded UTB Wrestling, a wrestling club catering to youth through high school wrestlers in San Diego County. In 2019, he joined Clackamas Community College as the Associate Head Coach and eventually took over as the head coach in the 2023 season, following grooming and mentorship by Josh Rhoden.

Besides his professional pursuits, Sanchez is a family man, married to his wife Gabrielle Sanchez, and they are proud parents of two children, Noah Jett Sanchez and Layla Sanchez.
