Coach Hoppel is entering his 6th year as the Head Baseball Coach for the Cougars. He coached for 10 years at the high school level and OBA teams for 6 years winning a pair of World Series titles with them, and was an Associate Head Coach for the Portland Kings in the Collegiate League.
He has been on the staff here at CCC for 17 years, starting as an Assistant Coach and then Associate Head Coach before taking over the helm. He has also been on the coaching staff with the Portland Pickles which play in the West Coast League for the past 6 years.
Coach Hoppel started his college playing career at CCC before joining the Army and getting his Criminal Justice Degree from Texas A & M.
He is excited about the Coaching staff that he has assembled and is looking forward to this year with the players he has returning and the new guys coming in. “We have a talented group of athletes this year, and with the coaching staff we have we believe we will be a very competitive team and make a run at the NWAC’S this year.
Jim has been married for 30 years to his wife Sharon and they have 3 daughters and 3 grandchildren.
