Sanchez Takes The Helm As CCC Wrestling Head Coach

Clackamas Community College is excited to announce the hire of the programs 7th head wrestling coach, Brett Sanchez. Brett was most recently the head wrestling coach at Pioneer Valley High School in California but prior to that he was the associate head coach for Clackamas from 2018-2021 as well as a student athlete for the Cougars from 2008-2011.

A native of  California, Brett graduated from Clovis High School in 2008 where he was a 2x California CIF State medalist helping his team win the California State Championship. A 2x NJCAA All-American placing 7th in the 2009 and 3rd  he helped Clackamas win the 2011 NJCAA National Championship. Upon earning his Associate Degree, Brett transferred to a Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona where he was a 2-year starter for the Lopes with two 20 Plus win seasons wrestling for coach RC Lahaye from 2011-2013. Sanchez earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology.

Brett Sanchez began his coaching career right after he graduated from GCU in 2014 season and started coaching in San Diego, California at Mater Dei Catholic and started his own business called UTB Wrestling .

“I am truly excited and grateful for the opportunity to come back to Clackamas. I plan on doing my very best to continue to keep this momentum going. I really do believe that I am the best guy for the job and the amount of support I am receiving from admin, coaches, alumni and boosters makes me feel more confident stepping into this position. Clackamas has always held a special place in my heart for many reasons and I am very eager to get back to work and keep the tradition going,” Brett Sanchez said.

Brett and his family plan on moving up to Oregon in a couple weeks to get things started with recruiting, scheduling, camps, and fund raising. “While it is later than we would all like in this transition, I have a great support system in Oregon City that will help me get all those top priorities done,” added coach Sanchez.
