Clackamas Community College is excited to announce the hire of the programs 7th head wrestling coach, Brett Sanchez. Brett was most recently the head wrestling coach at Pioneer Valley High School in California but prior to that spent 3 years as the Associate Head Coach for Clackamas from 2018-2021 as well as a student athlete for the Cougars from 2008-2011.

Brett was Coach Rhoden’s first recruit from the state of California to wrestle at Clackamas Community College. He was a two-time NJCAA All-American and was a member of the 2011 NJCAA National Team Championship while at Clackamas. Following his time at CCC, Brett transferred to NCAA Division II Grand Canyon University where he wrestled under Head Coach RC LaHaye. He was a two-year starter and team captain at 184 pounds. In 2012 Grand Canyon University finished 3rd at NCAA Tournament.

Brett started his coaching career instantly after he graduated college. He was the assistant head coach for Mater Dei Catholic High School in San Diego, California from 2013-2016 and promoted to Head Coach for the 2016-2018 seasons which brought about the high schools first CIF Champions, CIF Masters Champions, and CIF State Placer, as well as, National All-Americans.

In 2013 Brett started his own wrestling club where he was the owner, founder, and Head Coach of UTB Wrestling. UTB is a year-round wrestling club ran in San Diego opened to kindergarten to seniors in high school. He created an environment and built a culture where kids can fall in love with the sport of wrestling for all ages and become driven, goal oriented, and discipline. UTB has had great success so far creating many youth state placers, youth state champs, youth All-Americans and many High School State Placers, State Champions, and National All-Americans.
